Vacation Rental Homes
Another option for your Disney World vacation is renting a vacation home, as opposed to staying in a hotel. If you're traveling with a large group or staying in Orlando for an extended period of time, a vacation home rental off Disney property can prove very economical.
In addition to more sleeping and bath facilities, you'll also have use of a full kitchen and have separate living and sleeping areas--great for when you want the little ones to sleep, but the older ones still have plenty of steam left. Many vacation rental homes also have their own pool, movies for viewing on a DVD or VCR, video gaming systems, and other recreation.
Vacation Rental Tips
- Be sure to do your research when selecting a rental home. Amenitites differ with each individual home. Look for rental agencies or individual owners who offer detailed descriptions with many pictures, so you'll have a good feel for what's included.
- Read and understand all of the fees you must pay for your rental. There is a 13% tax required, and you may have to pay extra for linens, housekeeping, heating the pool, etc.
- Before signing a rental agreement, understand the cancellation policy, in case your plans should change.
- Prices will vary with the season, just like hotel rooms. Be sure to find out when prices change if you're looking to save on your rental.
- If you're driving to Disney make up some meals ahead of time that you can easily heat up and serve once you're there. And breakfast is an easy meal to have before heading out to the parks for the day. Any meals you can eat at home will save you serious cash.
- Check out your rental home's location on Mapquest or Yahoo Maps before you rent. Some homes can be quite a distance from the parks.
